Vancouver Squadron

Past, current and incoming Power Squadron members are all welcome at Squadron Nights, held on the third Monday of each month. We meet at the False Creek Yacht Club on the north shore of False Creek under the Granville Street Bridge. The doors open at 7:00 pm, the event begins at 7:30 pm, and the cost is $5.00 per person. We look forward to seeing you there!

Monday, Jan 21Meet the Vancouver Police Marine Division

The Vancouver Police Dept Marine Division is coming to the January Squadron night to bring us up to date on their activities and enlighten us on many aspects of their policing the waters around which we all spend time boating. Constables Perry Fiedler and Graham Webb will be speaking to us about all aspects of the VPD Marine Division. They have a considerable amount of video imaging to go along with their talk so it should be very interesting.

Here is what they talk about:

  • An overview of what they do
  • A little on their new boat acquisition
  • Some past and present crime trends in and around Vancouver (specifically False Creek)
  • How to secure your vessel against crime and what to do if an event happens
  • Some Port of Vancouver regulations for the area pertaining to pleasure craft, and also some new ones coming up

We will also discuss some boating safety issues and what we are seeing in the area; specifically with 'near-miss' incidents, Cruise ships, and carbon monoxide poisoning.

Please bring any questions you have as both officers will have a few minutes for a Q&A after their presentation.
